As you may know, each country has a diverse set of visa requirements for different passport holder to enter Kazakhstan.

Rules vary depending wether you are travelling for business, family issues, health issues or just for tourism.

Let’s talk about VISA requirements for tourists who want to visit Kazakhstan.

There are 4 main categories of tourism VISA to enter the country: visa-free, electronic visa, visa on arrival and transit visa.

Visa-free

First of all, let’s talk about visa free to Kazakhstan up to 30 days (except countries with note). If you are citizen of one of these countries on the link below, you do not need to get visa.

Electronic visa

Visitors who are not citizen of countries that visa is not required, will need to get a visa. Below the link of list of countries, who are eligible to obtain electronic visa.

From 1st of January of 2019 electronic visa (business, tourist and medical treatment) launched also in Kazakhstan. The application only takes some minutes to complete it online and saves lots of time physically going to an embassy or consulate. As soon as your application has been approved E-visa will be sent by email.

Please note: with E-visa you can enter to Kazakhstan only through Almaty and Astana (Nur-Sultan) international airports checkpoints. Those who plan to enter through different check points will have to obtain non electronic visa in Kazakhstan embassy in their country.

What are the steps in order to apply for E-visa?

  • register on Visa portal www.vmp.kz
  • fill in the form and Invitation number which has to be obtained before starting application
  • pay the Consular fee. Single entry 20-50$, Multiple entry – 200$
  • print your E-visa after confirmation letter

Visa on arrival

There is another option to obtain Visa to Kazakhstan. Visa on arrival is for countries where is not a Kazakhstan embassy or consulate.

Required documents on arrival are:

  • Passport
  • Letter of invitation
  • Consular fee

Note! The Visa on arrival is available only at the airports of Almaty, Astana (Nur-Sultan), Aktau, Atyrau, and Oral (Uralsk) and only during office hours from Monday to Saturday.

Transit visa

Transit Visa (B13)

Transit Visa consists 2 types of entry, which are single entry – up to 5 days in one direction within 90 days and multiple entry until 5 days in one direction within 180 days. Visa process takes up to 5 working days.

Transit Visa requirements:

  • Passport
  • Fill the application form http://mfa.gov.kz/files/5941f5a0505aa.pdf
  • One photo (3.5 x 4.5, white or grey background)
  • Letter of request, copy of the travel document along with a visa of final country of destination, driving license and other documents of the transport (if  necessary)
  • Visa fee – Single entry – 20 $, Multiple entry – 90 $.

Note! Travelers with children must present additionally:

  • A letter from one of the child’s parents stating non-objection to the child’s other parent taking him or her to Kazakhstan.
  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate.
  • A copy of the both parents’ passports.
